- Requirements:
- -------------
-
- To use the contents of this directory, you require a high
- resolution monitor (eg: SVGA, VGA or multiscan). Some
- examples of these are the Acorn AKF18, AKF50, AKF60 and
- AKF85. If you have a Risc PC then you will almost certainly
- have a high resolution monitor attached.
-
- Introduction:
- -------------
-
- This directory contains nine different sprite files. Each of
- the nine sprite files contain various high resolution
- sprites for a specific RISC OS program. They can be used to
- replace low resolution ones or in addition to high resolution
- ones (in !Sprites22, Sprites22) which may not currently be
- available in the program.
-
- High resolution sprites contain more detail than low
- resolution ones. As a result, they look a lot better on
- screen. I expect many of you will have noticed the
- Impression Style/Publisher/Plus flat file format icon. About
- six months ago many Archive readers complained about how bad
- the icon looked. This was because Computer Concepts (makers
- of Impression) forgot or did not include a high resolution
- sprite for the filetype icon. I have included a new high
- resolution sprite file for this icon, amongst others. I
- believe that my icons look much more attractive than the low
- resolution ones.
-
- Installation:
- -------------
-
- I have provided icons for:
-
- ArtWorks, the CCShared directory, the CSV and SID filetypes,
- the CC Graphics Loaders, KillerLog, Scanlight Scanner and
- Impression.
-
- BEFORE installation, ensure that you have made a BACKUP of
- the relevant program. This will allow you to copy it back
- over the original if you make a mistake during installation.
-
- ArtWorks
- --------
-
- You need to copy the relevant icons from the ArtWorks sprite
- file in this directory into each of the “!Sprites” files
- inside each of the ArtWorks modules. I have provided icons
- for each of the standard 13 ArtWorks modules. The modules
- can be found inside !ArtWorks.Auto.
-
- The “smradoff” and “smradon” icons belong inside the
- “Sprites” file inside the !PathTool module.
-
- The “smoff” and “smon” icons belong inside the “Sprites”
- file inside the !Transform module.
-
- CCShared
- --------
-
- This comes with the Impression range, ArtWorks, the Graphics
- Loaders and probably other CC applications. The two sprites
- inside the CCShared sprite, on this disc, are high
- resolution versions of the !CCShared folder. Locate your
- !CCShared directory (it should be inside the !System
- directory. Risc PC users can locate it inside
- !Boot.Resources.!System.
-
- Shift-double-click on it to open it. There should be a !Boot
- file, a !Run file, a !Sprites file and various other
- directories and applications depending on what software you
- have installed. Drag the CCShared sprite file, from this
- directory, into the CCShared directory. When you have done
- this, rename the new copy to !Sprites22.
-
- CSV and SID
- -----------
-
- These are high resolution CSV and SID filetype icons for use
- in !Eureka.!Sprites22 and any other application which
- excepts CSV and/or SID files.
-
- The Graphics Loaders
- --------------------
-
- The GLoaders sprite contains 12 icons for use with the CC
- Graphics Loaders. The Graphics Loaders are located in the
- !CCShared directory (see above). There are four loaders. If
- you only have Impression or ArtWorks and not the full pack
- then you will have a basic TIFF loader called !TransTIFF.
-
- For each loader (!TransTIFF, !TransPCD, !TransClr and
- !TransJPEG) copy the relevant icons into a new !Sprites22
- file inside the relevant loader.
-
- * “!transclr”, “file_690” and “small_690” belong in a
- !Sprites22 file inside the !TransClr loader.
-
- * “!transjpeg”, “file_c85” and “small_c85” belong in a
- !Sprites22 file inside the !TransJPEG loader.
-
- * “!transpcd”, “file_be8” and “small_be8” belong in a
- !Sprites22 file inside the !TransPCD loader.
-
- * “!transtiff”, “file_ff0”, and “small ff0” belong in a
- !Sprites22 file inside the !TransTIFF loader.
-
- Impression Style/Publisher/Plus
- -------------------------------
-
- These three programs have two ways of saving a file - the
- flat file and the multi-file, beginning with a !. Most of
- us use the flat file format. Unfortunately CC did not design
- a high resolution icon for the flat file format (file_bc5).
- Many users have designed their own, but after evaluating
- other attempts I prefer my own.
-
- My version differs from many other versions because it keeps
- the same style of the original low resolution sprite
- designed by CC. Many other versions have an I on the page to
- indicate an Impression document. This is confusing to
- someone who has bought Impression and will have to remember
- a new icon. For that reason I have made mine similar to the
- original.
-
- The new high resolution sprite was actually completely
- redrawn and was NOT converted using !ChangeFSI.
-
- To install my version (the best!), copy the “file_bc5” and
- “small_bc5” icons into the !Sprites22 file inside your copy
- of Impression. The “docsprites” icon must be copied into the
- Sprites file inside the Auto directory, located inside the
- Impression application.
-
- KillerLog
- ---------
-
- I have always though that !KillerLog looks ugly next to its
- high resolution parent (!Killer). I have therefore designed
- a high resolution !KillerLog file icon.
-
- Copy the KillerLog sprite file into your !KillerLog
- application and then rename it to !Sprites22.
-
- PrintQFS
- --------
-
- !PrintQFS is part of the TurboDrivers (version 4) package.
- It replaces Turbo and is located inside the !CCShared
- directory.
-
- Shift-double-click on it and copy the PrintQFS file, from
- this disc, into it. Now rename it to !Sprites22.
-
- ScanLight Scanner
- -----------------
-
- I have designed a high resolution Scanner icon as well as a
- new Setting icon. If you have the ScanLight Plus software
- (I have version 2.06) either copy the two icons into the
- !Scanner.!Sprites file or create a new !Sprites22 file with
- them in. If you do the latter, which I have done, you will
- also need to add the high resolution drawfile (file_aff)
- icons.
-
- The settings filetype icons (file_d8c) must also be copied
- into !Scanner.Resources.Sprites
